2018 Lego Christmas Tree Project

This is a large scale Lego project for the Gallery One Resident Artist Show in December of 2018.

I have made a few others....

These are mostly to recapture my inner child and to entertain the kids who attend Gallery One events and/or take classes.

Check out the note Santa left for me!

Planning stage.  I wanted to try to incorporate some Duplo blocks.

Solid base, check.

Figuring out what a tree trunk could look like.  Kinda Keebler Elf I guess.

Duplo in the center.

Snaking the lights into the tree.

Jewlery Box - Koa and Walnut

This is a Jewelry Box I made as a present for my wife.

I've Been making Jewelry for her for about 10 years and she needed a place for all of it.

It is made of English and Black Walnut, Koa, Mahogany, Cedar and Bubinga,

The English Walnut (left) has great curl to it and the Koa (right) is curly as well.

CONSTRUCTION Pictures Below:

I bought this wood at an estate sale. The person who had it was the Wood Professor at the University.  There must have been a reason he kept it....

Planed Down

Stunning Curl.

The piece on the right is my template for a 'leg'.

I tried to match the grain on the legs (walnut) to the grain on the face (koa).

Ellensburg Blue Agate Pendants in Sterling

Two pendants in sterling - very high quality stones found and cut by a friend.

Blue and Silver just go together so well.

One has a window in the back to see the character of the stone, the other has fine silver on the back.

This picture shows the color of the stones most accurately.  Really good stones!

Construction and planning pictures

This one is faceted, cut like and emerald

Always remember to smile!

Lego Cuckoo Clock

This is a project I made for the Gallery One resident artist's show in the fall of 2017.

It is based on the EV3 robotics platform.  The bird comes out about half way through the 2 minute video.

You can see the EV3 in the photo below:
